Mike is an entrepreneur who brings a strong business and marketing background to Alpine Strategy Group. He is a marketing consultant with a national reputation, and has more than 20 years of professional business experience. He has consulted with and assisted a wide range of corporate clients, from small R&D companies needing to assess market opportunities for emerging technologies, to Fortune 500 companies working to introduce new products into complex consumer markets. His marketing insights are an invaluable asset to Alpine’s clients who need to evaluate technologies and develop successful commercialization strategies.

Mike has also been a professor of marketing at Montana State University since 1984. He has taught a wide variety of marketing management, promotion management, and advanced advertising and promotion courses, including a graduate course in strategic management of technical innovations. He also serves as director of venture analysis and creation at the Center for Entrepreneurship for the New West. Prior to joining the MSU faculty, Mike taught marketing at the University of Arizona in Tucson for five years.

Mike's specialties are consumer behavior, the promotion of small entrepreneurial businesses, new product planning and marketing, and is widely published in these areas. In addition, he has served as chief marketing officer for several ventures, and was the co-founder of the NorthStar Consulting Group in Bozeman, Montana.

Mike holds both a Ph.D. and M.B.A. from Pennsylvania State University. His undergraduate work in psychology and sociology was at the University of Delaware.
